James Friedman is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Eastpointe and Executive Chief of the Global Chaplains Network. He brings a dynamic blend of spiritual leadership, public safety service, and training expertise to diverse communities across Michigan and beyond.
Chaplain Friedman serves as Director of Chaplain Services for the Eastpointe Police Department and as the Managing Chaplain and Reserve Police Officer for the New Baltimore Police Department. He also holds senior chaplaincy roles with the Macomb Police Chief’s Association, St. Clair Shores Police Department, Roseville Police Department, and the Macomb Criminal Justice Training Center. Additionally, he is an active member of the Southeastern Police Chief’s Association and serves as Police Commissioner for the Michigan Association of Police Chiefs’ Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MLEAC).
James is the certified coordinator of Crisis Intervention Team – CIT Macomb and is a driving force behind expanding CIT training and community partnerships throughout the region.
As Program Director and Instructor at Macomb Community College Criminal Justice Training Center, James teaches both advanced and basic police academy courses, including the Corrections Officer Academy. His instruction covers:

He also teaches for Washtenaw College’s Correction Officer Academy and serves as a guest lecturer at Destiny School of Ministries. He is a graduate of both the Macomb Police Reserve Academy and Public Service Chaplain Academy and currently proctors for MCOLES and LCOPAT.
James is the President and Founder of James A. Friedman Training and Consulting, LLC (JAF), which delivers engaging and applicable courses with the motto: “Awareness is the key.” His training events are known for being informative, interactive, and memorable.
In addition to his teaching and ministry, James appears daily on the national television program Ask the Pastor via TCT (Total Christian Television), offering insights rooted in both scripture and service.
James holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Grantham University and maintains extensive certifications including:

This training program is designed to teach public safety officers, security operatives, chaplains, mental health professionals, teachers/educators, companies and municipalities the fundamentals of autism awareness, recognition and response; predictable contacts & 911 dispatches, perpetrator and victim trends; de-escalation tips, restraint, arrest & incarceration options, dilemmas in interrogation and interview settings; model programs & cross educational opportunities for officers, children and adults who have autism, their families and supporters.

Understanding Cultural Awareness and Diversity
Interactive course, engaging and thought provoking training is designed to assist public safety and law enforcement personnel increase their diversity awareness and cultural competencies in relation to: Understanding how individual biases guide daily decision making and behaviors; Identifying unintentional intolerance where it comes from and how it can affect others; Examining the foundation of a personal and professional cultural lens; Creating mental models that are diverse and inclusive; Understanding cultural beliefs, traditions, experience and perceptions of assistance, intervention and authority; Identifying cultural characteristics of public safety and law enforcement; Clarifying the role of cultural competence in customer service and community relations; Building alliances in a multicultural society in order to prevent culture clashes.
Autism Awareness, Recognition, Response and Risk Management

Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
This one-day seminar will bring a basic but powerful understanding and awareness of sexual harassment in the law enforcement setting. This training will give great insight concerning the various types of sexual harassment, inner and outer departmental. This training also offers simple and applicable solutions of avoiding the challenge of sexual harassment.
